Premature Corrosion Puts Plant at Risk Case Study
Problem
A major petrochemical facility experienced problems with a premature corroded tank. Replacing the large diameter tank would have required the plant to shut down and cost millions in lost profits. The plant hired KHE to design a large API tank that could be built alongside the existing system, lifted into place and piped up to the headers that fit the corroding tank.
Solution
KHE performed extensive structural and lift engineering design to develop an API tank that could be built off the production unit property. The tank was then lifted into place by a large crane and put into service.
Result
The shutdown was only a few days instead of weeks. KHE saved the facility over $1 million in lost income.
