Emergency Process Equipment Design Case Study

Problem

A new power plant facility could not startup due to an inadequate crusher the contractor supplied. They hired KHE to design a new piece of equipment for its system of crushing product to be processed. The plant needed the equipment immediately in order to start-up its new unit.

Solution

KHE assembled a team of designers and engineers to complete the design under stringent time constraints. Fabrications began even as the team developed preliminary designs. To meet the deadline, KHE completed part of the design and drawing at the machine shop where the equipment was built. During final fabrication and maching, KHE checked detailed calculations. The equipment was designed and built in a phenomenal 32 days. Normal delivery for such equipment is 26 weeks.

Results

The equipment performed in accordance with design specifications and the plant was able to start up and run.
